Robert Chapman is a long-time resident of the Lake Macquarie region with his early education completed at Warners Bay High School. He attended Sydney University and graduated with his General Dental Degree (BDS) in 1978. He practiced general dentistry in the Warners Bay and Maitland areas before returning to study his Masters Degree in Orthodontics (MDSc) at Sydney University, graduating in 1983 where he subsequently joined Dr Robert Cerny.
He is a current member of the Australian Dental Association, Australian Society of Orthodontists, World Federation of Orthodontists’, The European Orthodontic Society and the American Association of Orthodontists. He has been an active member of the Newcastle Division of the Australian Dental Association for over 25 years, a past committee member for 10 years and a past chairperson. He has studied extensively and lectured to general dentists and orthodontists on a variety of topics both here and overseas.
His interests outside dentistry are varied including most sports. His wife Karen trained as an early childhood and special education trained teacher and they have two adult children.
